Join Mia Farrow for the Darfur Olympics

August 7th, 2008 by Sarosh Syed

Please see the note below from Mia Farrow:

Dear Friends,

I am currently visiting the Darfur region for the tenth time since 2004.

On this trip, I will once again listen to people tell me their stories and again they will plead for protection. Yet again I will promise them that I will tell the world what has happened to them.

This week, you can hear their stories — on the “Darfur Olympics,” my daily webcast August 8 to 15 from a refugee camp.

Sign up to watch my reporting by clicking here — we will even deliver each day’s broadcast directly to your inbox.

China continues to refuse to use its unique influence with Sudan and its role as Olympic host to persuade the Sudanese government to stop their attacks upon civilians and to allow the full deployment of peacekeepers.

You can show your solidarity with the people of Darfur. Watch my daily webcasts during the first week of the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Sign-up now and we’ll send you each day’s broadcast. You can listen to my first report from the region — it was on NPR.

Best,

Mia Farrow

The Darfur Olympics is an excellent idea and I really hope it sheds light on what is happening in Darfur. Though I must say that many people have become indifferent to the plight of refugees worldwide as they seemed to have their own problems, even though what they consider to be a difficult life can’t even began to compare with life in Darfur. Apathy is the enemy here and it is just as brutal as the Janjaweed.

we all should be honest when we really like to make things better , Darfur is suffering because no one is giving a hand to Sudanese government and no one wants to listen to what’s really going on in Darfur , most of the west is blaming the government for the crisis , but where the truth lies. the pathway is clear “support and cooperation” with Sudanese government to solve this problem.
and don’t just listen to one side , i visited many areas in Darfur and i have never seen or heard that that the government is killing people there, the government is trying to help them there and trying hard to secure peace but the movements are forcing people not to go back to their homes
in my opinion funds allocated for UN security forces would solve the problem !!
