Mia Farrow’s Fast for Life

May 11th, 2009 by Jerry Fowler

On April 27, Mia Farrow began fasting on water only to show solidarity with the Darfuri people and as her personal expression of outrage at international inaction to resolve the crisis.  Hundreds of people joined her for some period of time.  Mia ended her fast on Friday at the urging of her physician and was replaced by Sir Richard Branson.  He in turn was succeeded this morning by Congressman Donald Payne, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, and Jon Foreman of the band Switchfoot – who will both fast for three days.

Mia has dedicated most of the last 5 years of her life to raising awareness about Darfur – she’s been to the region 12 times since 2004.  Her commitment and courage inspire us all and shine a bright light on the peril to civilians in the region.

Supporters can honor Mia and the other participants in this fast by signing the citizen letter to President Obama calling for bold agenda-setting leadership to end the genocide.

~Mia, Richard, Donald & Jon…are calling for us to ban together to make a difference! How can anyone not be moved! (Of course..there are other World issues.) But, at least, do ’something’. A drop in the bucket..you might say..I say: How can we not ‘take action’ after we have ‘heard-the-call’? Ashamed-we should all be! Think about it!
